Chennai: To handle the heavy rush of passengers, Southern Railway has extended the services of 8 special trains across different routes. The extension includes the Chennai Egmore – Kanyakumari Special, which has been given extra trips for July and August 2026, along with a revised coach setup to accommodate more travellers.
For the Chennai Egmore – Kanyakumari route, Train No. 06045 (running on Fridays) is extended to operate from 10.07.2026 to 31.07.2026, while the return service, Train No. 06046 (running on Sundays), is extended to operate from 12.07.2026 to 02.08.2026.
Both trains will now run with a revised configuration of 3 AC 3-Tier coaches, 11 Sleeper Class coaches, 2 General Unreserved coaches, and 2 Luggage-cum-Brake Vans. Ticket bookings for this specific pair will open at 08:00 am on 04.07.2026.
