25 years as clerk, now a lawyer: G Sureshkumar's legal dream comes true

Ambalapuzha: In an inspiring turn of events, G. Sureshkumar, a long-serving court clerk from Ambalapuzha, has officially become an advocate, marking a first in the history of the Alappuzha and Ambalapuzha courts. After 25 years of service as an advocate clerk, Sureshkumar was enrolled as a member of the Kerala Bar Council in a ceremony held at the High Court Auditorium on Sunday.

A resident of Ambalapuzha's Kattakkuzhy, Sureshkumar’s journey into the legal profession is one of perseverance and passion. He completed his undergraduate studies at S.D. College, Alappuzha, between 1986 and 1989, and spent a decade working as a teacher at a private tuition centre in Ambalapuzha before stepping into the legal field.

He began his legal career as a clerk to prominent lawyer Adv. S. Ramakrishnan, and later served under Adv. Ahammed Ambalapuzha at the Ambalapuzha Magistrate’s Court and in various courts across Alappuzha. Over the years, he gained immense practical knowledge and respect in legal circles, eventually serving as the president of the Ambalapuzha unit of the Advocate Clerk Association.

His hard work and determination paid off when he completed his law studies and fulfilled the requirements to practice as an advocate.

Bar Association President Adv. Sreelatha Hari, Secretary Adv. R. Rajitha, along with senior advocates Adv. J. Shirley, Adv. Sandhya, Adv. P.T. Shyam, and Adv. C.S. Santhoshbabu announced that G. Sureshkumar will be honoured on Thursday afternoon. The event will be inaugurated by MLA H. Salam.
