Woman auto driver attacked by three miscreants in Kochi

Ernakulam: A woman auto driver has been brutally attacked by three unidentified men near Vypin. The accused had hired her auto for a ride to a hospital.
She was assaulted on the north side of the Badaria Mosque on Monday night. A young man hired her auto to a hospital. Shortly after departing, the man picked up two friends from Cherai. The auto driver, identified Jaya (47), was then asked to drive to another hospital. When the passengers claimed they needed to collect money from another location, she complied.
The trio eventually directed Jaya to drive to a beach near Kuzhupilly, where they requested another stop upon arrival around 10 PM. When Jaya expressed her inability to continue the trip at night and offered to arrange another vehicle, the youths became enraged and attacked her.
A man who heard the commotion alerted another auto dirver Ilyas, an acquaintance of Jaya. Ilyas found Jaya severely beaten up. Jaya, who was unable to move, was immediately taken to the hospital, accompanied by the police.
Meanwhile, relatives of Jaya suspected that the assault might have been intentional. Her sister and a friend revealed that Jaya had received threats in the past. They said that she suffered from blood clots in the lungs as a result of the attack. She has also suffered injuries to her spine and ribs. She has been admitted to a private hospital in Ernakulam.
The victim has provided a statement to the police, indicating that she did not know the assailants, but suspected they were from Udaya Colony based on their conversation.
The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
