Four stabbed in London’s Covent Garden: Woman arrested at scene

London: Four men were taken to hospital after being stabbed on Endell Street in central London’s Covent Garden area on Wednesday afternoon. The victims, aged 34, 39, 42 and 52, suffered stab injuries and were treated by emergency responders before being shifted to a major trauma centre.

The London Ambulance Service said it received the first emergency call at 12:29 pm local time and sent multiple response teams, including ambulance crews, a fast-response paramedic vehicle, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.

The Metropolitan Police arrested a 47-year-old woman at the scene on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and assault. She remains in police custody as officers continue their investigation.

Police said early inquiries indicate the incident is being treated as potentially related to a mental health crisis. Authorities have not said that they are searching for any other suspects.

Police investigation underway

A large police presence remained in the area following the incident as officers gathered information and appealed for witnesses.

The Metropolitan Police said investigations are ongoing and urged anyone with relevant information to contact authorities.

Covent Garden is one of London’s busiest districts, located in the West End and known for theatres, restaurants, luxury shops and the Royal Opera House. The area is also a major tourist destination and one of London’s historic market districts.

The stabbing incident occurred in a heavily visited part of central London, prompting a significant emergency response while police worked to establish the circumstances behind the attack.
