Sharjah airport staffer goes missing, body found in 9 pieces: Wife and son untraceable

Sharjah: A Karnataka man working in Sharjah was allegedly murdered in July, with his body later found dismembered into nine pieces and packed into two bags, according to his family. His wife and teenage son are also reported to be untraceable, adding to the mystery surrounding the case.

Alwin Prakash Kunder, a native of Karnataka’s Udupi district, was reportedly murdered in Sharjah in July. His body was later discovered inside a car parked along the route towards Oman. According to his brother, the remains had been cut into nine pieces and packed into two bags.

Kunder had reportedly been working at Sharjah Airport for around 14 years. He lived in the UAE with his wife, Tina Kunder, who worked as a schoolteacher, and their teenage son, who was studying in Class 10.

The family became concerned after Kunder stopped responding to calls around July 20. His brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, said he tried contacting him but received no answer. Instead, a message was sent from Kunder’s phone saying that he was fine.

The message reportedly appeared unusual to the family because Kunder normally communicated through voice messages. When repeated attempts to contact him failed, Anil asked a friend in Sharjah to check on him.

The friend reportedly visited the accommodation provided to Kunder by his employer. A watchman allegedly said that Kunder had travelled to India. The company’s HR department also initially told the family that he had gone to India.

The family disputed this information and asked the company to verify his whereabouts. A subsequent passport check reportedly indicated that Kunder was still in Sharjah. A missing-person complaint was then filed.

During the search, Kunder’s body was reportedly found inside a car parked along the route towards Oman. His brother said the remains had been dismembered into nine pieces and placed in two bags. The remains were subsequently identified as those of Kunder.

The circumstances of the killing and the motive remain unclear. Sharjah authorities have not publicly established a motive or identified suspects in the reports currently available.

Kunder’s wife, Tina, and their teenage son are also reported to be untraceable following his death. Some reports have suggested that they may have left Sharjah and possibly travelled to India, but their current whereabouts have not been independently confirmed.

Reports have also raised questions about Tina’s possible involvement in the murder. However, this remains an unverified allegation, and there is no confirmed information establishing that she was involved in Kunder’s death. His family has said it was unaware of any dispute between the couple.

Following the discovery of Kunder’s body, his brother met the Udupi Superintendent of Police and submitted a representation seeking assistance. The family is awaiting completion of legal procedures in the UAE before the body can be brought back to India.

The family has also sought information from Sharjah authorities about the circumstances of the murder, the discovery of the body and the whereabouts of Kunder’s wife and son. Udupi police are awaiting official communication from the UAE authorities.
