Kalamassery (Kochi): In a case where a large quantity of cannabis was seized from a Kalamassery Government Polytechnic College hostel room, the prominent student organisations SFI and KSU have publicly traded allegations against each other.

SFI State Secretary P.S. Sanjeev has said that Shalikh, who was arrested by the police on Saturday in connection with the case, is the KSU unit secretary. A photo showing Shalikh accepting KSU membership was released by former SFI State Secretary P.M. Arsho.

Sanjeev also stated that the fact that Shalikh is a KSU leader was being concealed, and emphasised that SFI is not a drum to be beaten by anyone who wishes. He further mentioned that the issue of drug use on campus had already been reported to the principal, and that Abhiraj, who was arrested by the police, was not a member of SFI. Sanjeev confirmed that Abhiraj had been expelled during the unit meeting held on Friday.

The principal of Kalamassery Polytechnic had informed the police in writing about the use of cannabis among the students. The police arrested former students Ashiq and Shalikh, who were involved in bringing cannabis to the campus. During the police raid, these individuals fled but were later arrested at their homes. According to the suspects' statements, the cannabis was intended for a third-year student from Kollam. The cannabis was reportedly sourced from a person from another state, and the police have begun searching for this individual as well.
