Pantheerankavu domestic violence: Complainant taken into custody, says she can't go with parents

Paravur: The complainant woman in the Pantheerankavu domestic violence case was taken into custody on Thursday night. The woman was taken into custody by Vadakkekara Police when she landed at Kochi airport around 8:30 pm. When presented before the magistrate, the woman stated that she was not interested in going with her parents and preferred to go to Delhi.

Earlier, her father, N.S. Haridas, had lodged a missing person complaint with the Vadakkekara Police. The police investigation, which focused on mobile network locations, indicated that the woman was in Delhi. 

Days earlier, the woman had left her residence to go to her workplace in Thiruvananthapuram. The family began their search and filed the missing person report after her phone was switched off. In the meantime, three videos of the woman surfaced, in which she claimed that the complaint she had made was false.

The woman took a U-turn, literally toppling the entire investigation. She stated that it was her parents who made her raise allegations against her husband, Rahul, claiming he was innocent.

“I feel guilty having said all those things against Rahul. From the very beginning, I had told my parents and relatives that I was not interested in lying. But they forced me to do so. The allegations of torture in the name of dowry and grievous physical assaults inflicted on me by my husband are all untrue. My parents had threatened to commit suicide if I refused to comply with their demands. This is exactly how things unfolded,” said the woman, backtracking from her previous statements. Through her own YouTube channel, she said, “I already knew Rahul was married but decided to remain silent, fearing it would make my parents call off our marriage.”

“Rahul had asked me to wait until his divorce formalities were completed. But I am the one who told him to go ahead with our marriage. The allegation that he demanded 150 sovereigns of gold and a car from my parents is untrue. In fact, Rahul had borne a major chunk of the marriage expenses. My husband had beaten me on two occasions; I am not denying that. But we have resolved those issues now. Once, while at Rahul’s home, I slipped in the bathroom; that’s how I sustained those injuries,” she said. Rahul and the woman had fought over her connections with someone she had got in touch with via a matrimony website.

In the video, she also accused the advocate of allegedly plotting to strengthen the case against her husband.
