Kozhikode, Kerala: More than 100 mobile phones, including 92 Apple iPhones, valued at around Rs 80 lakh were stolen from a mobile phone shop in Nadapuram town, police said on Saturday.

The theft took place at a popular mobile phone store in the town, according to police.

The shop owner discovered the burglary after arriving in the morning and finding the locks on the shutter broken.

Police said the thieves allegedly turned the CCTV cameras away from the shop before making off with the phones.

Investigators suspect that more than one person was involved and believe the thieves specifically targeted expensive handsets. No cash was reported stolen from the shop.

A probe has been launched, with police examining CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify those involved, officials said.

A dog squad and fingerprint experts have also inspected the shop as part of the investigation, they added.
