Supreme Court rejects actor Leena Maria Paul’s bail plea in fraud case

New Delhi: The vacation bench of the Supreme Court has rejected the bail plea of actress Leena Maria Paul, who is an accused in the financial fraud case involving Sukesh Chandrasekhar. The court stated that it would not intervene at this stage since her bail application is still under consideration by the High Court.
Bail plea on health grounds
Leena Maria Paul had sought bail on medical grounds, claiming that she is suffering from tuberculosis and requires treatment. However, the apex court maintained that it cannot interfere while the matter is pending before the High Court.
SC to consider only after HC ruling
The bench clarified that it will consider intervention only if necessary, and only after the High Court delivers its decision. The court chose not to enter into detailed arguments and reiterated its stand that intervention at this stage was not permissible.
