Organ trade: NIA may take over the investigation of human trafficking

Nedumbassery: In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) may take over the investigation of illegal smuggling of individuals to Iran for organ donation. This case is currently being investigated by Nedumbassery police.
It is learnt that around 20 people have been smuggled to Iran so far from places like Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Palakkad. The organ surgery took place at Faridi Khan Hospital in Iran.
A Valappadu resident of Thrissur, Sabith Nasar (30) was nabbed by the police in connection with this case. Police suspect that there are more people involved in this case.
Nasar first landed in Iran in 2019, and since then he has been executing this racket of smuggling people to Iran. The victims are smuggled by promising huge sums of money. In most of the cases, Kidney is smuggled.
It is also alleged that this group tracked people who required organs and took a huge amount of money to bring them from India to Iran for organ transplants.
On Saturday Nasar arrived at Kochi where he was trapped. As per reports he has earlier landed at other airports in India.
