Family of 5 found dead in locked Mathura home; Police suspect murder-suicide, probe chilling video

A chilling tragedy has rocked Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district after five members of the same family were found dead inside their home in Khapparpur village under the Mahavan police station limits on Tuesday morning.

According to initial police findings, the deceased include a husband, his wife, and their three young children, all discovered lying motionless inside a locked room.

The incident came to light when neighbours grew suspicious after the family failed to step out or respond to calls for a prolonged period. When villagers peered through a window, they found the entire family unresponsive and alerted authorities.

Police teams rushed to the spot and began a preliminary investigation. Early evidence suggests the deaths may have resulted from the consumption of a poisonous substance, with investigators reportedly finding glasses believed to have contained milk mixed with poison near the bodies.

Officials also recovered what is being described as a disturbing message written inside the house, indicating the family intended to end their lives. The note reportedly read that they were “committing suicide,” adding a grim dimension to the unfolding probe.

The victims have been identified in local reports as a 35-year-old farmer, his wife, and their children, though police have said that confirmation of identities and the exact cause of death will rely on post-mortem findings.

Authorities are also examining other material evidence collected from the residence, including electronic records and the circumstances leading up to the deaths.

Investigators are questioning relatives and neighbours to determine whether the family had been facing financial distress, domestic conflict, or other pressures that might have contributed to the suspected mass suicide.

While initial indicators point toward poisoning, officials have emphasised that all angles, including the possibility of a murder-suicide sequence, remain under scrutiny until forensic and autopsy reports are received.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination as part of the standard procedure. The incident has triggered widespread shock across Khapparpur village, with residents describing the family as reclusive in recent days. The sudden deaths of three children in particular have left the community deeply shaken.
