1 held, Rs 20 lakh hawala money seized in Malappuram

Malappuram: The Kadampuzha police nabbed a youth with hawala money worth Rs. 20 lakh here on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Rashid (29), a resident of Malappuram Pazhamalloor.

The youth was arrested during a vehicle search conducted by a police team near the Kadampuzha temple based on a tip-off received by Malappuram district police chief S Sasidharan.

During the search, hawala money amounting to Rs. 20,93,000 was discovered in a bag carried by the young man who arrived on a bike. Authorities revealed that the money was intended for distribution across various parts of Malappuram district.
