Civil police officer assaults woman cop in Idukki; No action taken so far

Thodupuzha: In a bizarre incident, a civil police officer allegedly assaulted a woman police officer while on duty during the Kerala visit of the Goa Governor. The incident has sparked protests among police personnel.

The lady cop was stationed at Thodupuzha bus stand on Sunday morning for security duty when she was beaten up allegedly by the civil police officer from Muttom station. The accused left the scene shortly after the act. The injured officer was then taken back to the station by her colleagues.

Despite the seriousness of the incident, no case has been registered till date. Authorities have stated that the lack of a formal complaint is the reason for not filing a report. The intelligence wing has already submitted a report on the incident to senior officials. However, no action has been taken against the civil police officer.
