Haripad: A 22-year-old Malayali medical student studying in Uzbekistan was killed after she was allegedly struck on the head with a laptop. The victim has been identified as Savaria (22), a native of Haripad.

Her classmate, Savaduren Anam (23), from Perinthalmanna, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The incident reportedly took place three days ago. Savaria had travelled to Uzbekistan in December last year to pursue her medical studies.

According to preliminary information received by her family, Savaria and Anam were talking when the accused allegedly became agitated and struck her on the head with a laptop.

Following the assault, Anam reportedly took Savaria to a nearby hospital. However, she was declared dead on arrival. Hospital authorities alerted the police, who subsequently took Anam into custody.

Relatives said Savaria and Anam were close friends.

Savaria's body was handed over to her family and arrived in Delhi on Tuesday morning. After the completion of necessary formalities, it is expected to be brought to her home in Haripad by Tuesday night.
