10-year-old Malayali girl shot in London, condition critical

Kochi: A 10-year-old Malayali girl suffered grievous injuries after she was shot in the head in Hackney, London. The injured have been identified as Lissel Maria, daughter of Ajeesh and Vinaya, a native of Gothuruthu near North Paravur. 

The girl was rushed immediately to the hospital. The seriously injured child underwent emergency surgery, but the bullet could not be removed. The child's condition remains critical.

The incident happened at 9:30 p.m. local time while the girl was having dinner with her family at a restaurant. 

It is suspected that the person who came on a stolen motorcycle fired the shots. The girl accidentally got shot during a shoot-out. Three others also suffered injuries in the attack.

Apart from the child, another injured person is in critical condition. The police said that the shooter and the victim did not know each other. It is reported that there are no Malayalis among the rest of the victims.
