No problem if he dies..: Shocking chats surface after tuition centre attack kills class 10 student

Kozhikode: Disturbing social media messages exchanged between students involved in a violent clash in Thamarassery have surfaced, revealing a chilling lack of remorse after the death of 15-year-old Mohammed Shahbaz, a class 10 student from MJHSS Elettil School. Following the fatal altercation in Thamarassery on Thursday evening, the messages showed students casually discussing the attack with phrases like, "If I say, I mean it..I will kill Shahbaz, I will kill him... Go and look at his eyes, he has no eyes. We will see after two days..." and "There is no problem if he dies... police will not book a case..."
The brutal fight, which escalated from a school rivalry, left Shahbaz with serious head injuries, leading to his death early Saturday morning at the Kozhikode Government Medical College. The tragic incident occurred near the Triz Tuition Center on Vezhuppur Road, where a group of students from Thamarassery GVHSS clashed with students from MJHSS, including Shahbaz, who was injured during the altercation.
The clash itself was rooted in a confrontation that began during a farewell program for Class 10 students at the tuition center the previous Sunday, when a technical issue interrupted a dance performance by MJHSS students. Tension between students from the two schools flared, and the situation escalated into a violent clash days later.
Following Shahbaz's death, the police took five students from Thamarassery GVHSS into custody. Since they are minors, they were presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and later released on bail, with instructions to appear for further proceedings on Saturday.
The messages shared among the accused have sparked outrage, with many condemning the lack of guilt expressed by the students involved in the violence.
Argument at send-off event leads to deadly clash
A heated argument during a send-off event at a local tuition center on Sunday spiraled into a series of confrontations, turning in a deadly clash on Thursday evening that claimed the life of 15-year-old Mohammed Shahbaz, a student of MJHSS Elettil School.
The clash, which erupted near a tea stall on Thamarassery-Vezhupur Road at around 6:30 p.m., was a continuation of tensions that had started during the farewell event days earlier. Students from MJHSS, including Shahbaz, and Thamarassery GVHSS students who attended the tuition center had engaged in a verbal altercation on social media after the initial argument at the send-off event. The situation escalated when both groups clashed physically on Thursday evening, and it was reported that a weapon, possibly a Nunchuck, was used in the attack.
Witnesses, including locals and shopkeepers, intervened. However, after a few hours, they again attacked each other near the road. During the chaos, Shahbaz was struck on the head, sustaining a serious injury. Although there were no visible external injuries, Shahbaz’s condition deteriorated after being taken home by friends, who initially did not take him to the hospital, believing he was fine.
Shahbaz’s family later became concerned when he began vomiting and showed signs of weakness. Suspecting he might have taken drugs, they reached out to his friends, who informed them of the clash. His family immediately took him to the Thamarassery Government Taluk Hospital, and due to the severity of his condition, he was transferred to the Kozhikode Government Medical College intensive care unit.
Doctors revealed that Shahbaz had suffered internal bleeding in his brain and a fractured bone near his ear. Despite being on a ventilator for over a day, Shahbaz succumbed to his injuries.
While the police investigation is ongoing, Shahbaz’s relatives have made allegations that, in addition to the students from Thamarassery GVHSS, some adults from outside the area were involved in the violent attack.
