Kottayam double murder: Police take Assam native Amit Orang under custody from Thrissur

Thrissur: Assam native Amit Orang, accused in the Kottayam double murder case, has been taken into custody by the police on Wednesday morning. According to police, Amit was apprehended at Meladoor, near Mala in Thrissur. He was hiding in a poultry farm in Meladoor.
The police said that they had tracked down the mobile phone location to nab the accused. The investigation team from Kottayam will soon return back along with Amit. The police have also been tracking the mobile phone of Vijayakumar, as it was taken by Amit from the crime scene.
It was on Tuesday morning that Vijayakumar (64), owner of Indraprastham Auditorium, Kottayam, and his wife Dr Meera (60), were found murdered in their house at Thiruvathukkal.
The police have confirmed that the accused in the Kottayam double murder case is Amit Orang, a native of Assam, who had worked in the house earlier. Crucial information was obtained from nearby CCTV footage. The police confirmed that the person seen walking in the footage is indeed Amit Orang. The fingerprints found on the axe used in the murder also matched, police sources said.
Amit had previously been arrested by the police in connection with a theft case. During that time, the police had collected his fingerprints. Scientific analysis confirmed that the fingerprints on the axe recovered from the crime scene matched those taken earlier, the police said.
