Kerala PSC exam irregularities: Former Deputy Secretary P. Satheesh arrested

The Crime Branch has arrested former Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) Deputy Secretary P. Satheesh in connection with alleged irregularities in a PSC examination. This is the first arrest in the case.
The arrest comes after the Crime Branch named Satheesh and another official as accused in a report submitted to the court. However, their arrests had been delayed, prompting strong criticism from the court over the handling of the case by the PSC and the state government.
During a recent hearing, the court questioned why the government had not taken concrete action in the case, despite there being no court order preventing the investigation from proceeding.
The court also raised concerns about a possible understanding between those involved in the case, criticising the delay in taking action against the accused officials.
The arrest of Satheesh follows these developments.
Satheesh retired from the PSC recently. He and the other official named as an accused had maintained that the incident was caused by a technical error rather than deliberate fraud.
However, the Crime Branch’s investigation is understood to have found evidence indicating that both officials had a role in the alleged irregularities.
The investigation is continuing.
