Kerala: A 47-year-old man was allegedly attacked with a sword and issued death threats at his residence in Beemapally, Thiruvananthapuram, reportedly due to jealousy over his repeated wins in local pigeon-flying competitions.

Brutal attack at home

The victim, Naseer, was reportedly assaulted on Saturday evening by a group of individuals who forcibly entered his home. Police stated that the attackers were allegedly armed with a sword and inflicted injuries to his chest and other parts of his body. The group also threatened to kill him.

Jealousy over pigeon-flying wins cited as motive

According to Poonthura police, the motive behind the assault is suspected to be rivalry and resentment stemming from Naseer’s consistent victories in neighbourhood pigeon-flying contests.

One arrested, others on the run

In connection with the case, police have arrested Rajeev, 32, a resident of Muttathara. He was produced before court and has been remanded in custody. The remaining suspects are currently absconding, and a search operation is underway. The investigation remains ongoing.
