Kerala college boy extorts money online after impersonating girl student, gets arrested

Tirur: A college student was arrested for creating a fake Instagram account and posting pictures of a girl student. A native of Nannambra in Tanur and Degree student here was caught by the Tirur police. 

Posing as the girl student, he posted many pictures of her on Instagram. He then started chatting with several people, posing as the girl. After making friends with them, he extorted money from many people by promising to make video calls.

Meanwhile, the girl student came to know about the same when a friend of hers found her pictures appearing regularly on another account. 

Following that, the girl lodged a complaint at the Tirur Police Station. The young man was arrested during the investigation. 

According to the police, the youth has extorted money from more than five people in this way. The authorities also stated that the investigation is progressing.

On the direction of Tirur DYSP K M  Biju, the youth was arrested by Tirur Inspector Jinesh KJ and Tirur Sub-Inspector Sujith RP. ASI Dinesan, Senior Civil Police Officer Jinesh K and Civil Police Officer Arun were also present in the team.
