Kasaragod woman’s murder: Photo turns crucial in police probe; husband on run for 24 years nabbed

Kozhikode: A man accused of killing his wife in 2001 has been arrested after 24 years on the run. The accused, Hameed, husband of the victim Jameela, was taken into custody from Adhur in Kasaragod, police said.
Police reopened the case and focused on a photograph of the accused. This helped them trace his presence within the Adhur police station limits.
Jameela, a native of Edacheri, was killed more than two decades ago. Police said there had been no information about Hameed’s whereabouts after he went into hiding.

The incident took place on September 8, 2001. According to the case, Hameed killed Jameela by hitting her on the head and strangling her.
After the incident, he fled and remained untraceable for years.
Traced to Kasaragod
Police said Hameed had been living in Bovikkanam in Adhur, where he worked as a fish vendor. His presence there was confirmed during the investigation.
He was arrested after police confirmed his identity and location.
