Uttar Pradesh: A 28-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his wife by slitting her throat and pushing her into a deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh after suspecting her of having an extramarital affair. Police said the accused had planned the attack with his younger brother and a friend.

The incident took place near the Panch Parmeshwar Temple in Solan district, where the three men allegedly lured the woman under the pretext of taking her on a mountain sightseeing trip.

Woman survives after bushes break fall

According to police, the accused attacked the woman with a knife, slit her throat and pushed her into an 80 to 100-metre-deep gorge, believing she would not survive.

However, dense bushes broke her fall, saving her life. Despite suffering critical injuries, the woman managed to crawl back to the roadside, where passers-by found her and rushed her to the Regional Hospital in Solan. She was later referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, where she remains under treatment.

Three arrested within 30 minutes

The prime accused has been identified as Dalip Kumar, a resident of Siswara village in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district. Police said he conspired with his younger brother, Shivam, and a friend, Madan Kumar, to carry out the attack.

The incident came to light on July 11 after the Saproon police post received information that a woman had been thrown into a gorge and alerted the Sadar Solan Police Station.

Following the alleged murder attempt, the three accused tried to flee back to Uttar Pradesh. However, police intercepted and arrested them within 30 minutes of the incident.

All three have been remanded to judicial custody. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
