Police have arrested two men in connection with the alleged gang rape and brutal assault of a 25-year-old woman who was thrown out of a moving van on the Gurgaon–Faridabad road late Monday night, leaving her with severe facial injuries that required 12 stitches.

The accused were taken into custody after the victim’s family filed a complaint, following which an FIR was registered at Kotwali police station. Police also seized the Maruti Suzuki Eeco van used in the crime.

Reacting to the incident, Haryana Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda termed the crime “extremely heinous” and alleged a complete breakdown of law and order in the state.

“A very heinous act has been committed. Law and order in Haryana has completely broken down. Haryana is the most corrupt state in the country. A gang is operating here. Crimes are of two types — organised and unorganised. Unorganised crimes involve gangs or groups. In such unfortunate incidents, the strictest possible punishment should be given,” Hooda said.

According to the FIR, the woman had left her house around 8.30 pm on Monday after an argument with her mother and informed her sister that she was going to a friend’s place. She was expected to return within a few hours, but got delayed and began heading back home close to midnight.

With no public transport available at that hour, the woman accepted a lift in a van occupied by two men. Instead of taking her home, the accused allegedly drove the vehicle towards the Gurgaon–Faridabad road and beyond the Hanuman temple on the stretch.

The woman told police that she was held against her will for nearly three hours as the van moved through deserted stretches of Faridabad amid dense fog. She cried for help repeatedly, but due to the cold weather, heavy fog, and sparse traffic, no one came to her aid.

Her family alleged that both men took turns to rape her inside the moving vehicle. Around 3 am on Tuesday, the accused allegedly pushed her out of the van near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar, leaving her bleeding on the road with serious facial injuries.

Despite her condition, the woman managed to contact her sister, who rushed her to a hospital. Though doctors advised shifting her to a Delhi hospital, the family admitted her to a private facility in Faridabad. Police said further investigation is underway, and more details will be shared after questioning the accused.
