Massive drug bust: Rs 5,000 crore worth of cocaine seized in Gujarat

New Delhi: In a major crackdown, Delhi Police and Gujarat Police jointly seized 518 kilograms of cocaine valued at Rs 5,000 crore in Gujarat’s Ankleshwar on Sunday. This brings the total drug haul over the past two weeks to 1,289 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana from Thailand, collectively worth Rs 13,000 crore in Delhi and Gujarat, according to sources.
The latest recovery took place during a raid at a pharmaceutical company in Ankleshwar, where the cocaine was found. On October 1, Delhi Police’s Special Cell uncovered a consignment of 562 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana at a warehouse in Mahipalpur, Delhi. Further investigation on October 10 led to the discovery of another 208 kilograms of cocaine in a shop in Ramesh Nagar, Delhi. The drugs were linked to a company that had received them from the Ankleshwar-based firm.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guidance from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, law enforcement agencies are intensifying efforts in line with their zero-tolerance policy on drugs as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign), sources said.
