Kochi: Popular Kerala rapper Vedan, whose real name is Hirandas Murali, was caught up in a drug-related incident on Monday when Hill Palace Police seized 6 grams of cannabis from his flat in Kochi.

The raid took place around 10 a.m. while Vedan was reportedly resting with friends after a performance the previous evening.

According to police sources, Vedan has admitted to using drugs following the seizure. Along with the cannabis, the authorities also recovered his mobile phone and Rs 9 lakh in cash, believed to be part of the payment he received for the Sunday event. Police confirmed that the group was resting when the team arrived, and the cannabis was not found during the body search.

The police also revealed that the group had been under surveillance for several days before the raid. Legal action is expected, and a decision regarding Vedan's bail will be made after a medical examination.
