Revenge killing in Telangana: Brother-in-law hacks YouTuber to death over pregnant wife's murder

Hyderabad: A 25-year-old man accused of murdering his pregnant wife, a local social media creator, was hacked to death in the Nizamabad district of Telangana, allegedly by his brother-in-law, police confirmed Friday.

C. Haribabu, who also worked as a YouTuber, was assaulted with a knife in Nizamabad on Thursday and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Following preliminary enquiries, a police official stated that Haribabu was targeted and killed by his brother-in-law in apparent retaliation for the killing of his sister.

Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, and a manhunt was launched to trace him, the official said. Investigators suspect that additional family members may have participated in the fatal assault. A formal murder investigation has been opened.

Haribabu was previously arrested and remanded in custody in March of this year in connection with the murder of his wife in Jagtial district.

At the time, police reported that he had allegedly strangled his wife before stabbing her in the face. The victim's father had also submitted complaints alleging that his daughter was subjected to dowry harassment by her husband, his mother, and his brother.

Haribabu was out on bail in connection with the homicide case at the time of his death.

In a video recording circulated across social media platforms, Haribabu's brother-in-law claimed responsibility, stating that he had killed the person responsible for his sister's death. Appearing visibly emotional in the self-recorded footage, he mentioned that he had a wife and children, appealing for public support to secure a lighter judicial penalty.
