Palakkad (Kerala): The Palakkad Additional Sessions Court on Monday convicted the notorious criminal, Chenthamara, in the high-profile Nenmara double murder case that sent shockwaves across Kerala. Delivering the verdict, Additional District Judge Kenneth George stated that the double murder charge against the accused has been proven. The pronouncement of the sentence will be on Wednesday.

The verdict comes one and a half years after the brutal crime, which took place on January 27, 2025.

Chenthamara, a resident of Thiruthampadam in Pothundi, was on trial for hacking Sudhakaran (55) and his elderly mother Lakshmi (75) to death at their residence in Boyan Colony, Thiruthampadam.

The investigation revealed a chilling history of vendetta. Chenthamara had previously been arrested and jailed for the 2019 murder of Sudhakaran’s wife Sajitha, a case for which the court had already sentenced him to a double life imprisonment and a fine. However, after being released on bail, Chenthamara harboured a deep-seated grudge against the family, blaming Sajitha and her relatives for his own wife leaving him. This long-standing animosity ultimately culminated in the brutal execution of the double murder of Sudhakaran and Lakshmi.
