Bhopal: A 33-year-old MBA graduate from Noida, was found hanging at her in-laws’ house in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, triggering allegations of dowry harassment and a growing protest by her family demanding justice.

Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her husband Samarth Singh’s residence in Katara Hills, Bhopal, on May 12. Singh, a lawyer, had married her in December 2025 after the two met through a dating app in 2024. The case has since escalated into a major investigation with allegations of dowry harassment and murder-level accusations from her family.

In the days leading up to her death, Twisha reportedly shared multiple emotional messages with close friends that have now become central to public attention and the ongoing investigation.

In one WhatsApp conversation dated May 7, she spoke about anxiety and dissatisfaction with her current life situation. “I have been under anxiety because I am sitting at home. I want to do something with my life. Shaadi makes your family, but you cannot stop working on yourself…”

She also cautioned her friend about marriage decisions, adding: “Shaadi ki khujli me shaadi mat karna. Soch samaj kar aage badhna.”

In another exchange, she expressed loneliness and longing for home and friends: “Main theek hoon. Mujhe bas ghar ki bahut yaad aati hai. Teri yaad aati hai.”

A more distressing message, shared on Instagram, included her writing: “I am trapped bro. Bas tu mat phasna. Can’t talk much. I will call when the time is right.”The messages have raised questions among investigators and the family about her mental and emotional state in the final days before her death.

Twisha, an MBA graduate who had worked in Delhi for several years, had shifted to Bhopal after marriage. Her family has alleged that she was subjected to harassment and had repeatedly expressed a desire to return to Noida.

Following her death, the family staged protests outside the residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, demanding a fresh post-mortem at AIIMS Delhi. They claim there were injuries on her body that require further investigation beyond the initial report, which cited hanging as the cause of death.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe allegations of dowry harassment against her husband Samarth Singh and his mother, Giribala Singh, a retired judge. The accused have denied wrongdoing and have reportedly secured anticipatory bail in parts of the case.

Police have not yet made any final conclusions, and the investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining digital chats, forensic evidence, and witness statements.
