Bengaluru: The accused, identified as Naveen K Mon, an employee of a consultancy services firm and a resident of Whitefield, began harassing the actress three months ago after she declined his friend request on Facebook.

Using the profile name Naveenz, he first messaged her on Messenger, and when she ignored him, he started sending explicit messages and videos daily.

After receiving a warning from the actress to stop, Naveen continued his harassment by creating multiple fake accounts. Despite being blocked several times, he persisted in sending obscene photos and videos.

Actress sets a trap, calls police after confrontation

Unable to tolerate the ongoing harassment, the actress decided to confront him directly. She messaged Naveen and arranged to meet him at a restaurant in Nagarabhavi on November 1.

When he arrived and continued to behave rudely, she immediately contacted the police.

According to a senior police officer, Naveen even shouted in abusive language at the officers and falsely claimed to be connected with two national newspapers.

Arrest and charges

The police arrested him on the spot and booked him under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — Section 75 (sexual harassment), Section 78 (stalking), and Section 79 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

Officials said his electronic devices have been seized and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for data recovery. Naveen has been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
