'Didn't want my kids to grow up with such a mom': Bengaluru father kills daughters, attempts suicide

A five-star hotel room near Bengaluru airport became the scene of a devastating family tragedy after a 40-year-old man allegedly strangled his two young daughters before attempting to take his own life, police said.

The two girls, aged five and 10, were found dead on a bed inside the hotel room on Monday evening. Their father, identified as SG Imran, was found injured after allegedly slashing his throat with a knife. 

Police said the incident was linked to a marital dispute. Imran allegedly suspected his wife of having an affair with another man and left behind a note referring to his suspicions.

According to police sources, Imran allegedly told investigators, 'I didn't want my kids to grow up with this kind of mother, so I decided to kill them and myself.'

The children and their father were residents of Nagawara in north Bengaluru. Police said the three had checked into the hotel on Sunday evening.

The horrifying discovery was made around 4 pm on Monday when hotel cleaning staff went to the room and knocked on the door. When there was no response, staff entered the room and found the two girls dead on the bed. Imran was also found inside the room after apparently attempting suicide.

Deputy Commissioner of Police GK Mithun Kumar said the man had admitted to killing his daughters.

'A person named Imran and his two daughters checked in at a hotel yesterday evening. This evening, at around 4:00 pm, when the hotel's cleaning staff went and knocked on the door, no one responded. Upon entering the room, they found the two daughters dead. Their bodies were lying on the bed. He, the father, had also attempted suicide by trying to slit his throat with a knife,' the DCP said.

Police said Imran had allegedly strangled both girls before trying to kill himself.

The police have registered a murder case and said the investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the exact motive.

'He has stated that he killed them himself. We are registering a murder case. We will take this up and investigate further,' DCP Mithun Kumar said.

The officer added that Imran's residence in Nagawara had been established, but several details remained unclear, including his profession and whether the reason cited by him was the actual motive behind the killings.

'What his profession is, whether the reason he mentioned is the actual motive, and how exactly things unfolded will only be known after we contact his family members,' the officer said.

Police are now expected to question family members and examine the circumstances leading up to the alleged killings as part of the investigation.
