BJP leader’s nephew allegedly runs over confectioner twice after argument over honking in Aligarh

A dispute over honking allegedly ended in murder in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, where a 40-year-old confectioner was killed after an Audi rammed his motorcycle, reversed, and ran over him a second time.
His associate sustained injuries in the incident near Sarasoul crossing in the Bannadevi area on Tuesday night.
The incident, partly captured on CCTV, prompted police to register a murder case. Police have detained the driver of the white Audi, which has a Uttarakhand registration number, and seized the vehicle.
According to the injured associate, Kanhaiya, an argument broke out between the motorcycle occupants and those inside the Audi over excessive honking. The confrontation allegedly escalated when the Audi driver struck the motorcycle from behind and subsequently ran over Manoj, the confectioner.
Locals said Manoj was returning towards the city after shutting his confectionery shop when the incident occurred.
Some people allegedly attempted to stop the Audi by throwing bricks at the vehicle, but the driver sped away.
Sources have claimed that Vikrant Singh, the nephew of former BJP district president Devraj Singh, was driving the Audi. The claim has not been independently verified based on the information available.
SP (City) Aditya Bansal said police registered an FIR after Manoj’s uncle, Chhotelal, filed a complaint. The case has been lodged under Sections 103(1), 352, 351(3) and 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation. The CCTV footage is also expected to be relevant to establishing the sequence of events that led to Manoj’s death.
