Waste-to-Wonder park set to welcome Amarnath pilgrims in Jammu
What was once discarded as scrap is now being transformed into a striking tourist attraction in Jammu. A Waste-to-Wonder Park is emerging on the banks of the Tawi River near Yatri Niwas in Bhagwati Nagar, ahead of this year’s Amarnath Yatra.
Developed under the Jammu Smart City Project, the park features replicas of iconic landmarks, including the Statue of Unity, Akhnoor Fort, Chenab Bridge, and the Taj Mahal, all crafted from discarded metal and other waste materials. Officials say glass bottles, old benches, and used tyres are also being incorporated into the installations.
According to Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Jammu Smart City CEO Dr Devansh Yadav, the project aims to encourage travellers and pilgrims to spend more time in Jammu, boosting tourism and supporting local businesses.
Residents have welcomed the initiative, praising its environmental message and its potential to provide visitors with a unique and eco-friendly recreational space.
