DMK councillors wear black at Trichy corporation meet over ₹6 crore fund row

Tiruchirappalli: DMK councillors arrived at the Tiruchirappalli Corporation council meeting wearing black shirts to protest what they alleged was a lack of basic development works and inadequate fund allocation for their wards.

The councillors also objected to the Corporation administration’s decision to return ₹6 crore allocated by the government for sinking a borewell in the Kollidam River, alleging that the funds were returned despite the need for the project.

The black-shirt protest was staged during the Corporation meeting as the councillors raised their concerns over civic works and funding.
