Raiza Dhillon calls Asian Games skeet bronze a ‘historic medal’

Nagoya: Indian shooter Raiza Dhillon described the women’s skeet team bronze at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games as a “historic medal” and said it could be the beginning of more success for Indian skeet.

Raiza, Maheshwari Chauhan and Parinaaz Dhaliwal finished third behind China and Kazakhstan, securing India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in women’s team skeet.

“We wanted to come back with a gold, but the fact that we even won a bronze is a very historic victory for our country,” Raiza said.

The 22-year-old, competing at her first Asian Games, also finished fourth in the individual event. She said the team medal would motivate her to return stronger and target gold at the next edition.

“This is just an opening for more medals to come,” Raiza said.

She credited the trio’s strong team dynamic and support staff for helping them through the competition.
