‘When disaster strikes, people look for a police cap,’ says Kerala Police Chief

Addressing the state-level workshop of the Kerala Police Officers’ Association, Namukku Parayam, in the state capital on Friday, State Police Chief Ravada Chandrasekhar underlined the deep public trust in the police force.

“When disaster strikes, people of Kerala don’t look for a miracle; they look for a police cap,” he said, emphasising that the role of the police extends far beyond law enforcement.

Further, he added that the theme of this workshop, ‘Namukku Parayam’, is incredibly timely.

“In a world that is becoming increasingly loud, the art of meaningful communication is being lost. For a police officer, speaking has often meant giving orders. But today, we can redefine that... But now we can say that we are no more silent force. We are thinking, communicating, and most importantly, evolving a sense of brotherhood. ‘Namukku Parayam’ means that we are no longer a silent force. I do not see you merely as a workforce, but as the backbone of the Kerala Police,” he said.
