Indore: Right-wing activists created a disturbance on Thursday night at The Hub food street in Indore, forcibly removing a Christmas tree and other festive decorations, police said on Friday.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the group shouting religious slogans while dismantling the decorations. In the clip, a woman can be heard appealing through a microphone to prevent damage, but her requests went unheeded.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed the authenticity of the video. “Our social media monitoring cell is examining the video. Appropriate legal action will be taken based on their findings. However, no formal complaint has been lodged regarding the incident so far,” he said.
The act took place during an event organised by a private company, highlighting tensions around public celebrations of Christmas in the city. Authorities are monitoring the situation and will decide on further steps once the inquiry is complete.
The incident occurred at The Hub food street in the jurisdiction of Lasudia police station in Indore. Police confirmed that the group involved forcibly removed the Christmas tree and other related decorations while chanting slogans. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajesh Dandotiya, stated that the video is under review by the department’s social media monitoring cell.
