Indian Railways introduces regional cuisine on Vande Bharat sleeper trains

The Indian Railways has rolled out a new onboard catering initiative on its recently launched Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains, offering travellers a taste of regional cuisines from the train’s point of origin.
Under the initiative, passengers are served dishes that reflect the local culinary traditions of the region where the train begins its journey, adding a cultural dimension to long-distance rail travel. The move has been warmly received by travellers, many of whom have praised the taste, quality, and variety of the food on offer.
Beyond the menu, passengers have also reported noticeable enhancements, such as improved meal presentation, higher standards of hygiene, and a more sophisticated overall service experience on the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains.
Indian Railways aims to create more immersive rail travel experiences by skilfully fusing comfort and cultural identity through the introduction of region-specific menus. The programme honours India’s rich and varied culinary legacy while reflecting the Railways’ broader endeavour to modernise passenger services.
