Dewas, Madhya Pradesh: The YogMaya Lakshmi Mata temple in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, is celebrating the Goddess of Wealth in a spectacular manner on her day, despite the fact that money may not be the key to achieving God.

For Diwali, the temple has been adorned with currency notes worth over Rs 1.12 crore. What may look like flower arrangements are actually bundles of real notes, ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 500 denominations.

Temple authorities revealed that the decoration took around a week to complete, and the idol of the goddess has been further embellished with gold, silver, pearls, and diamonds.

According to Priest Pandit Surya Prakash Mishra, ‘‘It took about one week and fifteen days to decorate the entire temple. Notes of 50, 100, 200, 500, 10, 20, and 1 have been used.

Everything has been given by Mata Rani herself, and we have offered it back to her in devotion. Gold, silver, pearls, and diamonds have been used in her divine adornment."

Devotees said it was the first time such a grand celebration had been organised at the temple.

One of the Devotees says that "The speciality of this temple is that whatever we wish for is fulfilled very quickly...it is Diwali and I wish to celebrate it right here; I don't feel like doing any work at home."

Meanwhile, another devotee explains, "For the first time, such a grand celebration has been organised here. The temple has been beautifully decorated with 100, 50, 200, and 500 currency notes. The evening aarti takes place at 8:30 pm...the temple looks beautiful. Govardhan Puja and (Gudi) Padwa/ Annakoot rituals will also be performed here."

Since morning, the temple has seen an unusually large crowd of devotees, who have been coming to admire the stunning decorations while offering their prayers.
