18 snakes found in Thrissur home: Forest department launches probe after a massive rescue operation
Kerala's Thrissur district after Forest Department officials discovered 18 snakes inside a residential property over a span of 24 hours.
The incident occurred at a house in Poonkunnam, where officials first rescued 10 Malabar pit vipers during a search conducted last night. When the team returned for further inspection on the next morning, they found eight more snakes hidden within the premises.
Adding to the surprise, several snakes were also spotted inside the homeowner's scooter parked on the property.
According to Forest Department officials, this is the highest number of snakes recovered from a single house in the area in a single day. With the assistance of trained volunteers, all the reptiles were safely captured and relocated to a suitable habitat.
Authorities have now launched an investigation to determine what attracted the snakes to the residence and how they gathered there in such large numbers.
