We shall overcome: Malayalam actors call for unity in Wayanad relief efforts
Malayalam actors have urged the public to prioritise safety and remain vigilant during the heavy rains and natural disasters. They have also encouraged providing necessary assistance to rescue teams, particularly in light of the Wayanad tragedy. Their messages were shared on social media platforms, and they are actively disseminating notifications from the Wayanad district administration.
Actor Unni Mukundan shared via Facebook, “Condolences to those who lost their lives in the Wayanad natural disaster. We share in the grief of the families affected. It is our duty to prepare necessary assistance for the rescue workers and to do whatever we can to confront this disaster.”
“Let's all come together to ensure that the journey of the rescue workers with the landslide victims from Wayanad district to Kozhikode Medical College is as smooth as possible. Please avoid unnecessary trips. Let's survive this together,” said Shane Nigam in his Facebook post.
Earlier, actors like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Kamal Haasan, Manju Warrier, and Prithviraj had also urged caution amidst the ongoing risks.
“Please stay safe and remain vigilant amidst ongoing heavy rains and natural calamities. Fully adhere to government instructions and minimise travel. Avoid spreading misinformation. Our prayers are with the people of Wayanad,” shared Mammootty via Facebook.
Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran also shared his condolences on X, calling for restraint in spreading false news to prevent unnecessary panic among the public.
Similarly, Kamal Haasan took to X to express his deep sorrow over the devastation caused by the landslides. He emphasised the importance of collective action and understanding in the face of natural disasters.
He also expressed gratitude to the army personnel and state government employees who have risked their lives to aid in rescue operations during these challenging times.
The landslides occurred in the Mundakai and Chooralmala areas of Wayanad district early Tuesday morning.
