Before Ranbir Kapoor, these actors started their apparel brands

Ranbir Kapoor's latest entrepreneurial venture, ARKS, marks his entry into the fashion industry, but he's not the first Bollywood A-lister to dip his toes into the world of style. Long before ARKS, several Indian actors had already made their mark in the fashion landscape with their own clothing labels.
From Salman Khan's Being Human to Alia Bhatt's Ed-a-Mamma, Bollywood's fashion-forward stars have been successfully blending style and entrepreneurship.
With a growing list of celebrity-backed fashion brands, the Indian fashion industry has witnessed a significant shift, combining glamour with wearable fashion. As Ranbir Kapoor joins the ranks, we take a look at some of the Indian actors who paved the way for celebrity fashion labels, redefining the intersection of style and stardom.
Alia Bhatt’s ‘Ed-e-Mamma’:
While Ranbir is a newbie in the fashion industry, his actor-wife, Alia Bhatt, has already been in the business since 2020. Unlike other stars who started their apparel brands for adults, Alia’s brand has kids as its clients. ‘Ed-e-Mamma’ is a brand that exclusively makes outfits for children aged between two years to 12 years old. She also expanded her business by creating a line of fashion for teenage clothing as well as maternity fashion.
Hrithik Roshan’s ‘HRX’:
Co-founded by Hrithik Roshan, Afsar Zaidi, Kamal Punwani, and Sid Shah, HRX is a casual wear brand, available across various fashion websites. Other than casual wear, the brand also has a wide range of apparels available for sports and fitness training. It also deals in footwear and accessories, as well as home workout equipment such as kettlebell and dumbbells, among others. Founded in November 2017, ‘HRX’ introduced its workout equipment in 2021.
Saif Ali Khan’s ‘The House of Pataudi’:
Saif Ali Khan has put his Nawabi fashion sense to use by launching his apparel brand, ‘House of Pataudi’. The luxury brand doesn’t only deal in a wide range of stylish apparels, but also in footwear, accessories, and home segment. Apart from having its stores across India, the brand’s products are also available on fashion website, Myntra. ‘House of Pataudi’ features the Pataudi brother-sister duo - Saif and Soha Ali Khan, as the brand ambassadors.
Salman Khan’s ‘Being Human’:
One of the first actors to have started his own clothing line is none other than Bollywood’s Bhaijaan, Salman Khan. His brand, ‘Being Human’, which is backed by his Salman Khan Foundation, has over 500 retail stores spread across the country. His fashion label is also available across various clothing and lifestyle stores including Globus. Salman’s younger sister, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, is the managing director of the fashion label.
