‘Toxic’ advance booking: Yash starrer races past ₹30 crore, eyes massive opening

‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’, starring Yash, is building strong momentum ahead of its theatrical release, with the gangster action drama recording substantial advance sales across India. The Geetu Mohandas directorial has already crossed the ₹30 crore mark in advance bookings, signalling strong audience interest in the much-awaited return of Yash to the big screen.

According to trade tracking data from Sacnilk, the 3 hour 14 minute movie has sold more than 8.84 lakh tickets across 17,557 shows, generating around ₹31.55 crore in advance sales in India. When blocked seats are included, the gross value rises to approximately ₹40.75 crore. The film's advance figures have also moved past those recorded by Sunny Deol's ‘Bantwara’ and Emraan Hashmi's ‘Awarapan 2’. 

Hindi version drives Toxic's advance sales

The Hindi 2D release is currently leading the advance booking charts among the film's different versions. It has earned around ₹13.45 crore from more than 4 lakh tickets across 12,183 shows. The average ticket price for the Hindi version is approximately ₹309.

The Kannada 2D edition, meanwhile, has contributed about ₹1.20 crore from 2.87 lakh tickets sold across 1,723 shows. Despite selling fewer tickets than the Hindi version, its average ticket price is significantly higher at around ₹405.

Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu versions add to total

‘Toxic’ is also recording advance sales across its other language versions. The Tamil 2D release has collected nearly ₹80.68 lakh from 50,108 tickets across 1,134 shows, with an average ticket price of ₹157.

The Malayalam version has brought in approximately ₹26.79 lakh through 13,709 tickets across 416 shows. The Telugu 2D version, meanwhile, has registered around ₹17.51 lakh from 6,931 tickets across 126 shows.

With bookings still open, the film is expected to see further growth in the final hours before its release.

‘Toxic’ records strong Hindi advance sales

The film's performance in the Hindi market has also been encouraging. As of August 24, ‘Toxic’ had sold approximately 1.36 lakh to 1.37 lakh tickets across PVR Inox and Cinepolis, the two leading national multiplex chains, for its opening day.

Trade estimates suggest that the film could finish its advance sales in these chains at around 2 lakh to 2.1 lakh tickets if bookings accelerate during the final stretch. Such a figure would be considered a healthy advance for a standalone pan-India film releasing in Hindi.

Yash's return puts ‘Toxic’ under spotlight

Toxic's opening will be closely watched as it marks Yash's return to theatres after a four-year gap. The actor headlines the film alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.

Mounted by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the film is expected to benefit further from last-minute bookings and spot sales. While the advance numbers point towards a strong start, its eventual opening will also depend on audience response once the film reaches theatres.

‘Toxic’ will be released in theatres on August 26, 2026.
