‘Shaque: Trust no one’ OTT release: When and where to watch Parineeti Chopra’s mystery thriller

What happens when a mother who has spent nine years searching for her missing child finally gets closer to the truth, only to realise that the people around her may not be who they seem? That is the question at the heart of Netflix’s upcoming mystery thriller ‘Shaque: Trust No One’, which premieres on September 24.

Created by Rensil D’Silva and Siddharth P. Malhotra and directed by D’Silva, the series follows a mother’s relentless search for her missing child. As new answers begin to emerge, the search takes an unsettling turn, forcing her to question the people she once trusted the most. Netflix describes the series as a story that explores the blurred lines between trust and suspicion, instinct and truth, and love and obsession.

The series marks Parineeti Chopra’s debut in the format, with the actor taking on the role of the mother at the centre of the mystery. The story is not simply about finding a missing child. It also digs into what happens when years of hope and instinct begin to clash with doubt.

For creator and producer Siddharth P. Malhotra, the project was an immediate draw when D’Silva first narrated the story to him.

“When Rensil narrated the story to me, I was hooked. There was something about the world he had created that immediately stayed with me, and I knew I had to be a part of it,” Malhotra said.

Describing ‘Shaque: Trust No One’, Malhotra said the series combines suspense with complex relationships, unexpected twists and an emotional story at its centre. He added that the mother’s search gradually becomes much bigger as she begins uncovering secrets within the relationships closest to her.

“What happens when the people you instinctively trust become the very people you begin to question?” he asked.

Malhotra also highlighted the themes of motherhood, instinct and resilience running beneath the mystery. Shaque marks his fourth collaboration with Netflix after ‘Tribhanga’, ‘Maharaj’ and ‘Ikka’.

Rensil D’Silva on keeping viewers guessing

For director and co-creator Rensil D’Silva, the appeal of the story lies in its uncertainty. Rather than giving viewers straightforward answers, the series is designed to make them question each revelation and rethink the people they believe they understand.

“Shaque is a thriller built on uncertainty. Every revelation raises another question, and every relationship has another layer waiting to be uncovered,” D’Silva said.

He added that he was particularly interested in telling a suspense story through the emotional journey of a mother who has refused to give up on her child for nine years.

“We have tried to create a world where the audience is constantly second-guessing what they see and whom they trust,” he said, adding that he hopes the series keeps viewers guessing until the end.

Alongside Chopra, ‘Shaque: Trust No One’ features Soni Razdan, Anup Soni, Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harleen Sethi, Dhruv Chowdhary and Sumeet Vyas.
