Mirzapur season 4 update: What we know so far

The world of ‘Mirzapur’ is set to expand further, with the makers developing the fourth season of the popular crime drama. While an official release date and production schedule are yet to be announced, director Gurmmeet Singh has confirmed that work on the script is underway.
In an interview with Variety India, Singh said the writing process had begun, with the production timeline expected to become clearer by early 2027. According to Mid-Day, the team had planned the fourth season alongside ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, with the upcoming series expected to pick up from the events of Season 3's finale.
Details about the storyline and returning cast members remain under wraps. However, Shweta Tripathi has expressed her interest in revisiting Golu Gupta, the character she has played across the series.
Shweta Tripathi on why Golu Gupta’s story is far from over
For Shweta Tripathi, Golu is a character who has changed considerably since her introduction in the first season. Initially a quiet, academically inclined young woman who placed her faith in education, Golu gradually finds herself drawn into the violent power struggles that define Mirzapur.
The losses she suffers and the choices she makes transform her into someone very different from the person viewers first met. Tripathi believes that this evolution is what makes the role rewarding to play.
Speaking about Golu's journey, the actor said, “Her journey is special to me. Golu’s experiences have changed her. And she is still changing. But I think that’s what makes her human. I have grown as an actor while playing her too, so in many ways, we have grown together.”
The character's development has also given Tripathi room to explore different shades of her performance. Rather than returning to a familiar role and simply repeating what worked before, she approaches each season as a chance to understand how Golu's past continues to shape her.
Tripathi is keen to explore the character further if Mirzapur returns for another season. She feels that Golu's experiences have left her with more emotional and psychological layers to uncover.
“Every time I return to the character, I discover something new,” she said.
Explaining why she continues to find the role engaging, the actor added, “As an actor, it is a beautiful space to be in because you are not just repeating something you have done before, you are going back to a person who has lived through more experiences. You have to understand what those experiences have done to her. I would love to keep discovering those different sides of her.”
Across three seasons, the character has had to navigate personal tragedy, revenge and the pursuit of power, leaving her future open to further change.
