Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2' could offer fans an extended viewing experience when it makes its digital debut. Following a successful theatrical run, reports suggest that the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial may arrive on OTT with an uncut version containing approximately 30 minutes of additional footage. The reported extended cut could bring back several sequences featuring popular actors that were not part of the film's theatrical release.

According to a report by News18, the digital version may include previously unseen portions involving Mohanlal, Santhanam, Vijay Sethupathi and Hrithik Roshan. The possibility of these additional scenes has generated considerable interest among fans, particularly those who felt some of the supporting characters had limited screen time in the theatrical version. However, the makers are yet to confirm whether the OTT release will feature an extended cut.

'Jailer 2' OTT release date: When and where to watch

The Rajinikanth-starrer is reportedly set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 12. The proposed date is said to follow a four-week gap between its theatrical and digital releases.

Sun NXT has also been mentioned in reports surrounding the film's digital distribution. However, Amazon Prime Video is currently expected to be its primary streaming destination. Neither the OTT release date nor the possibility of an uncut version has received official confirmation from the makers or the streaming platform.

Why could the extended version of 'Jailer 2' be special?

The theatrical version of 'Jailer 2' featured several prominent names, but not all of them reportedly received the screen time audiences expected.

Santhanam, who appeared in the film's shooting completion video, was reportedly absent from the final theatrical cut. Similarly, some portions featuring Mohanlal are said to have been removed, disappointing fans, particularly in Kerala, where the actor enjoys a strong following.

Vijay Sethupathi's role was also reportedly reduced during the editing process. Meanwhile, the possibility of additional footage featuring Hrithik Roshan has added to the anticipation surrounding the digital premiere.

If the reports prove accurate, the extended version could restore some of these sequences and offer viewers a closer look at the film's ensemble cast. However, the reported 30-minute addition and the inclusion of the deleted scenes remain unverified.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, 'Jailer 2' reportedly concluded its theatrical run with an impressive worldwide collection of Rs 812 crore. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film's India net collection stood at Rs 459.70 crore, taking its worldwide gross beyond the Rs 800 crore mark.

The sequel features an ensemble cast comprising Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar and Hrithik Roshan, alongside Rajinikanth. Santhanam and Vijay Sethupathi have also been associated with the project.
