Black Clover season 1 recap

Created by Yūki Tabata, ‘Black Clover’ follows Asta, an orphan who dreams of becoming the Wizard King despite being born without magical powers. His childhood friend and rival, Yuno, possesses exceptional magical ability, setting the two on very different paths towards the same goal.

Asta eventually receives a rare five-leaf clover grimoire containing anti-magic, which allows him to counter the spells of other magic users. He joins the Black Bulls, one of the Clover Kingdom’s Magic Knight squads, and gradually grows stronger alongside his teammates.

The first season’s 170th and final episode "Harukamirai" / "The Faraway Future" aired in March 2021. By the end, the story had moved towards a major confrontation with the Dark Triad, the powerful rulers of the Spade Kingdom. Asta began training to master his devil powers, while Yuno, Noelle and the other Magic Knights prepared to fight back after their enemies captured key squad captains.
