Court dismisses Thoppi’s anticipatory bail plea in drug case

Kochi: The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court on Wednesday has dismissed the anticipatory bail plea filed by YouTuber Nihad, popularly known as ‘Thoppi,’ and his friends in connection with a drug case.

The decision came after the police submitted a report stating that no case had been registered against the petitioners. Alongside Thoppi, three of his female friends had sought anticipatory bail following allegations of involvement in the case.

The investigation began after two young men were arrested in Thammanam, Kochi, on November 15 for drug possession. The police discovered that Jabir, who was Thoppi’s driver, had supplied MDMA to the arrested individuals.

Fearing legal action due to his celebrity status, Thoppi reportedly went into hiding following the driver's arrest. Later he applied for anticipatory bail. The court subsequently directed the Palarivattom police to file a detailed report on the matter by December 4.

In the police report submitted to the court, it was clarified that no case had been registered against Thoppi in connection with the drug incident. Following this, the court disposed of the anticipatory bail petition.
