Fans had been eagerly awaiting the release of Vijay’s much-anticipated film, Jana Nayagan, on 9 January. However, the excitement turned to disappointment as the makers were forced to postpone the release due to delays in obtaining the censor certificate. The film is set to be Vijay’s final project before he enters active politics.

The uncertainty was largely cleared on Friday when the Madras High Court directed the CBFC to issue a ‘U/A’ certificate for the film, paving the way for its release. The court order apparently ended speculation about political interference and brought much-needed clarity for the film’s team and fans.

Amid the delay, actor Silambarasan (STR) publicly expressed his support for Vijay. Writing on his X account, STR said:

“Dear @actorvijay anna, Setbacks have never stopped you. You’ve crossed bigger storms than this. This too shall pass, real Thiruvizha begins on the day #Jananayagan releases.”

Several other prominent figures from the Tamil film industry, including actors and directors, also voiced solidarity. Director Karthik Subbaraj noted that censor delays could impact the industry, while actor Ravi Mohan highlighted that as a brother, he stands with Vijay and that the real celebration would begin when the film reaches theatres.

KVN Productions confirmed that a new release date would be announced shortly. With the court’s intervention, fans can now look forward to the film finally hitting the big screen.
