Celebrated filmmaker Tharun Moorthy has offered fans a festive surprise this Onam, hinting at a sequel to one of his acclaimed films. The director shared the news through a heartfelt Facebook post on Onam day, expressing that discussions are underway regarding the continuation of one of his earlier projects.

While Tharun stopped short of confirming which film would receive a second installment, his words have sparked widespread excitement and speculation among fans—particularly regarding the possibility of a sequel to either Operation Java or Thudarum.

In his post, Tharun Moorthy wrote:

Happy Onam

This Onam is truly special for me.

As an artist, as a filmmaker, and as a human being, I'm cherishing every moment of artistic ecstasy.

We are now in serious discussions about a sequel to one of my projects. Some personal meetings and real-life incidents still inspire me to bring it back. This is not official yet—but in some ways, it already feels official.

It was during an Onam season, when I was completely blank, that a door first opened before me. And this Onam, I couldn't let that signal fade away.

Yes, I've started writing again—this time, the second part of one of my films.

I'll share more official updates soon.

Be with us. As always.

The post, which begins with warm Onam greetings, also reflects Tharun’s personal journey and emotional connection with the festival. He reminisces about a past Onam season during which he was feeling "completely blank"—a time when, as he puts it, “a door first opened” for him.

This Onam, I couldn’t let that signal fade away,” he adds, suggesting a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration.

He makes it clear that while no official announcement has been made yet, the project is very much in motion: “Some personal meetings and real-life incidents still inspire me to bring it back... In some ways, it already feels official.”

Since the post was published, numerous fans have taken to the comments section, speculating whether the upcoming sequel is to Operation Java, his critically acclaimed crime investigation drama, or Thudarum, the blockbuster film starring Mohanlal.

Either way, the director's message has succeeded in building anticipation without revealing too much, leaving followers eagerly awaiting the official confirmation.
