Yash teases ‘Toxic’ at Comic-Con, says fans will leave theatres 'mind blown' | WATCH
Actor Yash has promised audiences an unforgettable theatrical experience with ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’, saying the action thriller is designed to surprise viewers long after the credits roll.
Speaking during the film's appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor described ‘Toxic’ as far more than a conventional action spectacle, insisting that beneath its grand scale lies a deeply emotional story. While the film boasts high-octane sequences, Yash said its emotional core is what truly defines the project.
“It’s like a roller-coaster ride, it’s wild and unapologetic. But at the same time, it’s very deep as well. It may come across as something larger than life, but deep inside, it’s a deep and emotional film. Anybody who walks into theatres will get their mind blown while walking out. They’re going to go, ‘What the hell was that?’”
A balance of action and emotion
Yash explained that ‘Toxic’ aims to deliver both adrenaline-fuelled entertainment and an emotionally layered narrative. According to the actor, the film has been crafted to offer audiences an experience that combines spectacle with storytelling rather than relying solely on action.
His remarks at Comic-Con have further fuelled anticipation for the multilingual production, which has been positioned as one of Indian cinema's biggest upcoming releases.
The actor also spoke about his enthusiasm for action films and acknowledged the contribution of Hollywood stunt coordinator and action director JJ Perry, crediting him with elevating the film's action sequences to an international standard.
Ensemble cast and global release plans
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, who has also co-written the screenplay with Yash, ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ features an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria alongside Yash.
The action-thriller is set in Goa and spans the period from the early 1940s to the 1970s. The film is being shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, highlighting the makers' international ambitions.
Backed by KVN Productions in association with Monster Mind Creations, ‘Toxic’ is now scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26, 2026. The film was initially expected to arrive in cinemas on June 4, 2026, but its release was postponed following multiple delays.
